A Guide To Taking CBD Oil Products

If you are considering buying CBD oil products for bettering your health and wellness, you might be wondering how often you should be taking CBD in order to receive the benefits it has to offer while also not “overdoing it.”

As we touched on in our previous blog, there is no harm in using CBD frequently. But in an effort to conserve your CBD oil products and save money, you might want to find your ideal balance to receive the relief you need without going through your CBD oil tincture, capsules, or other forms of CBD too quickly.

Since CBD oil products are a part of a relatively new industry that is still being researched, it can be difficult to navigate the dosage specifications in order to determine how much CBD is right for you and your specific needs.

In order to provide some clarification and help you get the most out of your CBD products, we want to discuss how often you should be using CBD as well as how long the effects of CBD last for most users with the variety of products available today.

Every Person Is Different

Before we dive into how much CBD you should take, it’s important to understand how CBD works and that it can have a different effect with everyone. Depending on a variety of factors, such as your weight, metabolism, body chemistry, conditions you’re suffering, and more, CBD oil products work in varying doses and last for varying lengths of time. This is because each person’s endocannabinoid system — what regulates and maintains the balance of our physical and mental health — is unique, meaning each individual’s ECS can be affected in different manners.

Start Low And Go Slow

Just as you would with any other new supplement you’re introducing to your body, it’s important that you start with a low dosage amount in order to become familiar with exactly how your body responds to CBD. Once you have a general idea of how your body responds to it and how well it is benefiting your condition, you can gradually increase your CBD intake until you find that “sweet spot” where you receive all the marvelous benefits of full-spectrum CBD oil without going above and beyond.

How Much CBD To Take

CBD, just like many other supplements and pharmaceuticals, takes time to build up in your system and to be fully accepted by your endocannabinoid system as “one of its own.” This is why we recommend taking CBD as a daily supplement in order to allow it to become fully introduced to your internal biology and be given “permission to go to work,” in a sense.

According to WebMD, “CBD doses of up to 300 mg daily have been used safely for up to 6 months. Higher doses of 1200-1500 milligrams daily have been used safely for up to 4 weeks.”

When starting off with your specific CBD journey, we recommend starting with an amount around 15-25mg a day in your preferred form of CBD oil product. Monitor your results for a week or two, then start taking CBD at night as well, upping your CBD dosage to roughly 30-50mg a day. Always refer to the serving amount that is detailed on your specific CBD product; each one has different concentrations of CBD, meaning it will take less of the product to receive the benefits depending on how much is present. And, like we said, start low and go slow.

Typical Durations For CBD Effects

CBD Oil Tincture: Users typically begin to feel the effects of CBD within 15 minutes when using sublingual CBD products.

CBD Edibles: Edibles must be digested prior to entering your bloodstream, meaning they can take upwards of an hour to begin working, but they can provide benefits for up to 8 hours.

CBD Topicals: Topical CBD is absorbed directly into the skin upon application, but it can take 20-40 minutes before the effects are felt. They then last for 4-6 hours on average.

CBD Capsules: Like edibles, CBD capsules can take anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour to take effect and last up to 8 hours.

CBD Vape Oils: By vaping CBD, you receive almost immediate results, but the effects last only for roughly 30 minutes after inhalation, so you’ll want to periodically administer throughout the day.
